BULLANTS MARCH INTO FINALS

Having missed out on a finals berth last season, the NAB Northern Bullants have secured a place in September by accounting for Geelong by 20 points on Saturday.

Currently sitting seventh on the VFL ladder, the Bullants face Port Melbourne at TEAC Oval this Saturday in the last round of the regular season.

Looking forward the Northern Bullants will finish seventh or eighth with likely matches against Werribee or Coburg in the first round of the VFL finals.

With Geelong now out of contention of the VFL finals, the last spot up for grabs will be between Frankston and Sandringham. If Frankston get over Geelong at Skilled Stadium they are assured a spot.

The Northern Bullants encourage all supporters to make the trip to TEAC Oval this Saturday as a win over the old-foe, currently second-placed, would be a great confidence boost for the mighty Ants. Of course the best way to get to TEAC Oval is by public transport, visit metlinkmelbourne.com.au for the best options to get there.

NFL FINALS RESUME AT PRESTON

The Northern Football League finals series returns to the home of the NAB Northern Bullants this weekend in two big days of footy.

This Saturday sees the 2nd Semi-Final for Division One, including the big match between Heidelberg and Montmorency, the only team to inflict a defeat over the reigning premiers this season. The match back in round 2 provided a shock to the competition given the 55 point margin.

Sunday's Division 2 Preliminary Final matches are highlighted by the clash between Whittlesea and Macleod. Whittlesea will be keen to redeem themselves after being stung by Thomastown in last weekend's match despite the efforts of Bullants-listed footballers Adam Coff and Glenn Robertson.

AFL STARS ENTERTAIN THE KIDS

Former Carlton star and St Kilda Assistant Coach, Stephen Silvagni joined Essendon’s Mark McVeigh and Collingwood’s Brodie Holland in entertaining almost 200 local children as part of NAB’s 150th Auskickin’ Around Australia Tour on Saturday.

The free footy event held at Preston City Oval, home of the NAB Northern Bullants, put the kids through eight different stations teaching them all the skill sets of Australian rules football. The AFL stars also provided the budding young footballers with words of encouragement and insight into their pathway to the elite level. An interesting point was made when Brodie Holland noted that his favorite team growing up was in fact Collingwoods' arch rival Carlton and his favourite player being Stephen Silvagni.

Local NAB staff were also on hand with giveaways for all participating before the kids caught an exciting match between the NAB Nothern Bullants and Geelong.

WILLIAMS SHINES ON VTV

NAB Northern Bullants onballer, Jake Williams, starred on VTV this week as a special guest. As a footballer Williams is slick and cool under pressure and was no different in front of the camera.

Providing concise and insightful commentary when called upon, Williams must surely be considered one of the more talented guests for the season.

CALLING FOR VOLUNTEERS

We are well and truly into the season and the Ants are still looking to recruit some more people to our already generous band of loyal volunteers.

Match-days take a lot of effort from a lot of people to man the admission gate, work in the canteen, cook a BBQ, run the scoreboard and much, much more, and we need your help.

As a special thank-you to our loyal volunteers our fantastic sponsors in NAB and Preston Central are providing the club with prizes to award two lucky volunteers at each home match.

If you are interested in helping out the NAB Northern Bullants on match day please contact the club on (03)9470 2224.
